Common Questions

Everything you need to know about extracting frames from videos.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your video never leaves your device. Everything runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. We don't upload, store, or even see your video. Close the tab and it's gone.

What image quality do I get?

The frame is captured at the video's native resolution. So if your video is 1920x1080, you get a 1920x1080 image. Choose PNG for pixel-perfect lossless quality, or JPEG/WebP if you want a smaller file size.

What video formats are supported?

Any format your browser can play: MP4 (H.264), WebM, MOV, and more. If your browser can play it, this tool can extract frames from it. Most modern browsers handle virtually all common video formats.

Can I go frame-by-frame?

Yes. Use the left and right arrow buttons (or your keyboard arrow keys) to step through the video one frame at a time. Each step moves approximately 1/30th of a second, which is one frame in a standard 30fps video.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no hard limit since everything runs in your browser. However, very large files (multiple GB) may take a moment to load depending on your device. Most videos under 1GB load nearly instantly.

Does this cost anything?

No, it's completely free. No account, no credits, no limits. Since the tool runs entirely in your browser, there's no server cost on our end either. Use it as much as you want.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, it works on phones and tablets. You can select a video from your camera roll, scrub through it, and save frames. The interface adapts to smaller screens, though a larger screen makes precise frame selection easier.
